Do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way also he took the cup, after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.””

  • Christ Crucified scriptures for Communion:

    • Including, but not limited to Hebrews 9-10, John 6:41-58, Romans 3-6, Ephesians 2, Colossians 3:1-17, 1 John 2, Ezekiel 34

Principles:

  • Communion is a practice to remember that Christ Crucified is the foundation of our faith and purpose in meeting together.

  • When Communion is being performed, the one facilitating will come with scripture, teaching, prayer and/ or lead into corporate repentance.

  • A lifestyle of Repentance is something that we encourage within our churches so that individuals will mature in both freedom and surrender to Jesus.

    • Practicing Communion corporately is a reminder that Christ Crucified is the foundation which offers us the ability to turn to God through repentance.

    • Paul warns the church of Corinth to examine themselves before taking Communion and to hold it with reverence, which is why we encourage repentance at this portion of our church meetings (1 Corinthians 11:27-32).

Logistics for Communion:

  • We encourage members within the fellowship to facilitate Communion as a way to help them grow as a disciple within the Body.

  • Communion can typically be done after Family Meal, during Prayer and Worship or after scripture discussions.

  • Preparing for communion:

    • Bread: Any type of bread, cracker, or pita bread etc.; cut into small bite sized pieces.

    • Juice/Wine: Depending on your convictions, any type of grape juice or wine may be used. You may use disposable small communion cups or regular cups.
